iPhone Duo lets users open two apps side by side and save them as a pair
The iPhone Duo can run two apps at once on its inner display. Split View works in landscape on the 7.6-inch screen, and users can save an app pair so both apps launch together.
The iPhone Duo supports running two apps at once in Split View on its inner display. The phone must be unfolded in landscape orientation, and the apps each take half of the 7.6-inch screen.
To open an app in Split View, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, pause in the middle, then drag the app to the left or right edge. The Home Screen appears in the other half, where users can choose a second app, search for it, or open it from the App Library. Alternatively, touch and hold an app icon and select “Open in Split View.”
Users can also save two apps as a pair: open both in Split View and tap the divider between them. After that, opening either app launches both. To separate them, drag the divider to the edge of the screen; the app pushed off the display closes, and the other expands to full screen.
Two windows of the same app can also appear side by side when the app supports multiple windows. Safari, Mail, Notes and Files are among the supported apps, allowing users, for example, to view two webpages or keep an inbox open beside a draft.
Unlike Split View in iPadOS, the iPhone Duo does not let users resize the windows: each app gets 50% of the screen. Only one app can play audio at a time.
