iPhone Duo can be unlocked with an Apple Watch instead of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into its side button. The watch must be unlocked, worn on the wrist and kept close to the phone.

The feature is called Unlock with Apple Watch. It has already been available on iPhone and allows authentication without pressing the side button, although users still need to swipe up to dismiss the Lock Screen after waking the phone.

Supported Apple Watch models

The feature works with Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3.

How to enable the feature

Open Touch ID & Passcode in the iPhone Duo settings, enter the passcode and turn on the switch next to the Apple Watch. If multiple watches are paired with the phone, the option can be enabled for each one.

Then wake iPhone Duo by raising it or tapping the screen, and swipe up from the bottom edge. If the phone is closed, opening it will wake the device. The additional swipe can be disabled in Settings.
