Duo-Man Turns Apple’s Foldable iPhone Duo Into a Virtual Walkman
Developer Vidit Bhargava created Duo-Man, an app that uses the iPhone Duo’s hinge to imitate a cassette Walkman. The app has no release date yet; iPhone Duo pre-orders begin October 16, 2026, with availability on October 23.
Independent developer Vidit Bhargava has created Duo-Man, an app that turns Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Duo into a virtual Sony Walkman.
Users open the phone, choose music and “insert” a cassette on the 7.6-inch inner display. Closing the device starts playback.
Duo-Man Takes Second Place at Hackathon
The app was built in BitRig’s new iPhone Duo development environment. It placed second at a recent BitRig hackathon in San Francisco, while Bhargava’s post on X received more than 2.1 million views.
To make the experience sound authentic, Bhargava recorded button clicks and static noise from a real Walkman.
Planned Duo-Man Features
Following the response, Bhargava decided to develop the project into a full release. The app is expected to support Apple Music and local files, along with an Apple Pencil feature that imitates “rolling” the cassette loop, a common Walkman battery-saving technique.
Spotify support may be added depending on the app’s popularity. No release date has been announced.
Apple will begin taking iPhone Duo pre-orders Friday, October 16, 2026, with availability starting October 23.
