Foldable iPhone Duo to Start at $2,000, Launch Expected No Earlier Than October

Apple is reportedly preparing to release its foldable smartphone under the iPhone Duo name, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device has often been referred to as the iPhone Ultra, including internally.

The entry price is expected to be $2,000 for a 256GB model. Higher-capacity versions could reach roughly $3,000.

Pricing and storage options

Gurman reports that a memory shortage pushed Apple’s costs above its targets. The company is expected to absorb part of the expense on the base model while passing higher storage costs on to buyers.

The phone is reportedly planned in white and dark blue. Sales could begin as early as October, although production difficulties may place the foldable model after the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Gurman previously said the launch gap should be limited.

Cameras, chip and stylus

Reported specifications include an A20 Pro chip, Apple’s C2 modem, two 48-megapixel rear cameras, a 12-megapixel front camera and a magnetic hinge system. The device is also expected to support the Apple Pencil.

Gurman previously said Apple had tested a smaller Pencil for the foldable iPhone but considered a launch unlikely.

The same event is also expected to bring further details about the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. Gurman notably reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could cost $100 more than their current counterparts.

Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (5:00 p.m. UTC).
