Developers are updating apps for iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, to use its larger inner display and multiple folding positions. Sales begin Friday, October 23.
The inner display is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display. Both screens share the same aspect ratio, allowing apps to transition smoothly between the outer and inner displays.
Streaming and sports across two screens
Netflix will let users browse Clips on the outer display and continue watching on the inner screen after opening the phone. Prime Video places video on the upper half of a partially folded device, with cast information and bonus content below.
Paramount+ expands playback controls and browsing. MLB and PGA Tour will show live coverage, highlights, scores, statistics and leaderboards on the larger display.
Split View and productivity apps
Split View lets users open two apps side by side on an iPhone for the first time. Microsoft Word places formatting tools beside a document, while Outlook displays the inbox next to an open message.
Zoom shows meeting participants and shared content at the same time. Slack, Salesforce, Fantastical, Notewise, Things and Bear use the additional space for workspaces, calendars, notes and tasks.
Editing and content creation
Detail uses the Core AI framework to run artificial-intelligence models on the device. Instagram displays more posts and Stories, while Edits puts the timeline, editing tools and video on one screen. VLLO also shows more editing controls and footage simultaneously.
New App Store collections for iPhone Duo apps and games go live October 23, with more updates rolling out throughout the year. Compatible apps will carry a Made for iPhone Duo badge.
iPhone Duo comes in star white and night sky, with storage options from 256GB to 2TB. The U.S. starting price is $1,999, and pre-orders are open in more than 70 countries and regions.
