Apple has started selling the iPhone Duo, a foldable smartphone priced from $1,999. It has a 5.4-inch outer display that opens into a 7.6-inch inner screen.

Early reviews have been mixed. The matte inner display reduces reflections and makes the crease less noticeable, while the larger surface is useful for reading, video, photo editing and multitasking.

Reviewers have also pointed to inconsistent software support, unused screen space and unfamiliar controls. The device’s weight and width make one-handed use harder, returning to Touch ID takes adjustment, and its cameras do not match Apple’s Pro models.

MacBook Pro expected on October 28

Apple’s next “Pro and tell” event is scheduled for October 28 in Los Angeles. Redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to headline the event, with OLED displays and the first touchscreens on a Mac.

The rumored designs could be lighter and thinner, with a reinforced hinge for touch input and Dynamic Island replacing the notch. The laptops are expected to retain M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, making the display and exterior design the main changes.

Apple is also expected to introduce a redesigned iPad mini with an OLED display, the A20 Pro chip, a landscape front-facing camera and a new speaker system. Water resistance is another possible addition. The company is also expected to bring the M6 chip to the iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro.

The episode also marked 25 years since Apple introduced the original iPod on October 23, 2001.
