Photographer Tyler Stalman reviews the new iPhone Duo cameras
Photographer Tyler Stalman published a video review comparing the iPhone Duo cameras with those on the iPhone 18 Pro. He said most users may not always notice a difference between the main cameras, while the Duo’s front camera is weaker.
Photographer Tyler Stalman published a video review of the iPhone Duo cameras, comparing them with the system in the iPhone 18 Pro.
He said the main cameras look very similar in most lighting conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro performs better in low light, but the difference may not be obvious to most users.
Main and ultra-wide cameras
iPhone Duo lacks a telephoto lens, and its main camera is weaker than the iPhone 18 Pro’s. Stalman said, however, that the Duo’s ultra-wide camera is nearly comparable in quality to the iPhone 18 Pro’s.
He also highlighted the Duo’s two-screen design. It allows 48-megapixel selfies to be taken with the main camera, while people being photographed can see the image being framed.
Lower-resolution front camera
The iPhone Duo’s Center Stage front camera has 12 megapixels, compared with 18 megapixels on the iPhone 18 Pro and last year’s iPhone 17 Pro. Stalman expects selfie quality similar to models released before the iPhone 17.
The Duo’s front camera does support Center Stage and automatic framing, allowing the phone to be held in any orientation. Its weaker specifications are less significant because users can take selfies with the main camera.
