Apple limits walk-in iPhone Duo sales across several countries at launch
Apple said its stores will have limited iPhone Duo stock for walk-in customers on launch day, October 23. The company expects supplies to sell out quickly after what it called extraordinary pre-order demand.
Apple will limit the number of iPhone Duo units available to walk-in customers at its stores when the device launches on October 23. The policy applies to selected countries and stores.
The company said stock could sell out quickly because of extraordinary pre-order demand. Limited walk-in inventory will be available in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
Store and country restrictions
Apple will also offer walk-in units at certain stores in Italy, without identifying which locations. In Macao, walk-in sales will be limited to launch day and inventory will be limited.
Walk-in purchases will not be available on launch day in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. Customers in those markets will need to reserve a specific Apple Store pickup time through Apple's online store.
Apple said restrictions on launch-day walk-in sales are partly intended to manage crowd sizes and deter scalping. Its online store currently tells customers to check back on October 24, leaving it unclear whether pickup reservations will open on launch day.
