Verizon has told some customers who preordered the iPhone Duo through the carrier that their deliveries will be late. The company apologized and offered affected buyers a $100 gift card.

The card can be used online or in stores to pay Verizon bills or buy merchandise. Verizon said customers would receive an email about the gift card next week.

Revised delivery estimates

A MacRumors reader, Ryan, ordered an iPhone Duo from Verizon on October 16, the first day of preorders. The carrier initially estimated delivery for October 23, the phone’s launch day, but later changed Ryan’s estimate to November 7.

Other customers have reported delays on the MacRumors Forums, Reddit and social media. Many revised estimates fall between October 31 and November 14. Some Verizon customers did receive their phones on October 23, so the delays have not affected everyone.

Responsibility remains unclear

Verizon attributed the delays to an “unexpected shipping delay.” It said orders remain secure, customers’ places in line have not changed, and its team is tracking shipments to fulfill them as soon as possible.

It is unclear whether Verizon is solely responsible for the delays or whether Apple is also involved. MacRumors said it had contacted Apple for comment; no response was reported in the source.

Reports before the iPhone Duo launch cited possible supply constraints linked to manufacturing challenges. Last week, Apple described preorder demand as exceptionally strong, with estimated delivery dates for new orders through its online store extending into late January. Customers can check Verizon order status through the My Orders page on the My Verizon website or app.
