Apple to label iPhone Duo-optimized apps in the App Store
Apple will add a “Made for iPhone Duo” label in the App Store for apps optimized for the iPhone Duo. Developers must build those apps with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.
Apple will mark apps optimized for the iPhone Duo in the App Store with a “Made for iPhone Duo” label. The company announced the policy in a press release highlighting apps adapted for the device.
To qualify as optimized, an app must be built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. These apps fill the entire inner display of the iPhone Duo, with the toolbar positioned vertically below the status bar.
SDK versions produce different layouts
Apps built with the iOS 27 SDK fill most of the inner display but leave the status-bar area along the right edge unused.
Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier still run on the iPhone Duo. However, they appear centered on the inner display, leaving large empty areas on both sides.
Apple said more apps are being optimized for the iPhone Duo each day and directed users to monitor the App Store’s updates menu.
