Apple has equipped both versions of its HomeView smart home hub—the tabletop and wall-mounted models—with temperature and humidity sensors. The devices can measure indoor conditions and provide readings to compatible thermostats.

The technical specifications also list an ambient light sensor and an accelerometer. Temperature and humidity sensing is optimized for domestic environments at approximately 59°F–86°F and relative humidity of 30%–70%.

Readings for LG and Schneider thermostats

The LG Electronics and Schneider Electric thermostats in Apple Home Collection can receive data from multiple rooms. Sources include HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini and dedicated sensors from either manufacturer.

The thermostats also support Adaptive Temperature in the Home app. The feature uses on-device intelligence from iPhone to adjust settings based on whether someone is home, winding down for the night or away.

Sensor operating limits

Accuracy may decline when HomeView plays audio at high volume for an extended period. The sensors also need time to calibrate after startup before readings become available.

US pricing and launch date

Both HomeView models will cost $299 in the United States and launch on November 13. LG’s Temperature Sensor and Schneider Electric’s Home Room Sensor will each start at $39.95, while the corresponding thermostats will start at $199.95.
