The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches September 29, 2026; new Songs of the Past expansion revealed

CD PROJEKT RED confirmed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026 and said the update will be free for qualifying owners of the original game.

The company listed platforms for the remaster: GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; a native version will also release on Nintendo Switch 2, and the title will appear on Battle.net through a partnership with Blizzard. CD PROJEKT RED stated owners of the original game will receive both expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — at no extra cost.

An announcement trailer shown at gamescom Opening Night Live outlined technical and gameplay changes: upgraded visuals and lighting, improved textures and foliage, ray-tracing/path-tracing and other rendering improvements, revamped animations, new finishers, revamped skill trees and transmogrification, updated mount handling, monster behavior tweaks, expanded photo mode, and cross-platform mod support on consoles where supported.

At the same event the studio debuted a teaser for the paid expansion Songs of the Past and revealed the new region Letten. The expansion is slated for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 and is available to wishlist on select platforms.

CD PROJEKT RED said it is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory, while Remastered is co-developed with Yigsoft. The studio is hosting guided presentations and REDstreams at gamescom in Hall 8.1, and announced current owners will immediately gain access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

The company also announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to bring Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net; purchasers on Blizzard’s platform will unlock a Geralt-themed skin in Diablo 4, with more details to be revealed at BlizzCon in September.
