Fate/Extra Record launches January 28, 2027 on PS5 and PS4 with revamped combat

During State of Play, PlayStation announced that Type‑Moon’s remake Fate/Extra Record will launch worldwide on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on January 28, 2027.

The title is a full rebuild of the original Fate/Extra (first released in Japan in July 2010) and features expanded story content, renewed character graphics and an updated presentation alongside a new Command Card deck‑based battle system.

Fate/Extra Record takes place in SE.RA.PH, a digital world constructed by the Moon Cell Automaton. The Moon Holy Grail War pits 128 Masters against each other, each partnered with a summoned Servant; the ultimate prize is the Holy Grail.

Combat now plays out through customizable decks in Command Card Battles. There are three Command types—Attack, Guard and Skill—and Commands vary by Servant, requiring different tactics. New Commands are obtained from treasure boxes in the Arena and by defeating powerful foes.

Players must explore Arena floors, overcome traps and enemies to qualify for Decisive Battles. The Final Battle is a one‑on‑one Servant duel commanded by their Masters; the losing Master forfeits the tournament and their life.

A Digital Deluxe Edition will be available including the game, multiple cosmetic costumes, an in‑game arranged music pack from the original Fate/Extra and digital versions of the art book and soundtrack that appear in the physical Limited Edition.
