BioMenace Remastered launches on Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2026

Rigel Gameworks is preparing BioMenace Remastered for Nintendo Switch. The digital release is scheduled for October 8, 2026.

The updated 2D run-and-gun platformer will include the original three episodes with 36+ levels and a new fourth episode containing 15+ levels.

Updated graphics and gameplay

The game adds widescreen support, smooth movement at 60 FPS or higher, parallax backgrounds, and improved per-pixel collision detection. Players can switch between the original and remastered graphics at any time.

Other changes include weapon and grenade type switching, infinite lives, a kill-streak system, and additional gameplay mechanics. The soundtrack combines Bobby Prince’s original music with new AdLib compositions.

New “Menace from Above” episode

The fourth episode includes 15 regular levels and multiple secret levels, along with new environments and mechanics, including two that were cut from the original game before release. Its story takes place several years after the events of the original episodes.

BioMenace Remastered will also feature nine unique bosses, leaderboards, achievements, secret levels, and a built-in editor for creating custom stages. Players will be able to discover user-made levels added by the community.

Story and original release

Players control CIA operative Snake Logan as he investigates the devastated Metro City and attempts to stop Dr. Mangle. James Norwood created the original BioMenace, which Apogee Software released for MS-DOS in 1993.
