Ocarina of Time Remake Gameplay Shown at Nintendo Direct — Launching November 5 on Switch 2

During the Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed gameplay for the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The title is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 November 5.

Producer Eiji Aonuma narrated the footage, which presents the game as a faithful re‑creation of the original third‑person adventure rebuilt on a new engine. One prominent change shown is that Link can now perform manual jumps, alongside other modern movement options.

Many classic sounds and animations appear carried over or faithfully recreated; the chest‑opening animation was highlighted as retaining its familiar look with an updated aesthetic. Time of day in the game now advances in real time across the world.

New gameplay features demonstrated include manual jumping, swimming and diving, a dash for faster movement, single‑button item swapping and fully voiced characters in cutscenes. Hyrule Castle Town contains previously closed areas opened in this version.

Nintendo said the remake still includes loading screens to maintain the original's feel. The presentation emphasized audio work: cutscenes will be fully voiced and the remake's theme will be added to Nintendo's music platform.

Nintendo will also offer a Zelda Notes companion app for screenshots, discovery mini‑quests with points, an ocarina music creation feature and a quiz. Two new amiibo tied to the Ocarina of Time remake were announced; both unlock masks in the game.
