AT&T says iOS 27.0.1 fixes iPhone 18 Pro Max issues, but users disagree
AT&T urged iPhone 18 Pro Max owners to install iOS 27.0.1 over problems with calls, texts and mobile data. Users report that their phones still show “SOS” after updating.
AT&T sent iPhone 18 Pro Max owners a message urging them to install iOS 27.0.1 because of network connectivity problems. The carrier said some phones may be unable to complete calls, texts or data connections, including calls to 911.
Users say the update has not resolved the fault: their iPhones still show “SOS” after installation. The issue does not affect every device, but reports indicate it is relatively widespread among affected AT&T customers.
AT&T is working with Apple
AT&T told MacRumors that it recommends updating to iOS 27.0.1 and is working with Apple to resolve the problem. Apple also released an AT&T carrier-settings update.
The iOS 27.0.1 release notes list fixes for Face ID and camera performance on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but do not mention AT&T cellular connectivity problems.
The issue appears limited to Pro Max
Affected iPhone 18 Pro Max units cannot connect to AT&T for calls, texts or data. The model uses a Qualcomm modem, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple’s C2 modem and appears unaffected by the reported AT&T issue.
