Most Apple products include a one-year limited warranty for manufacturing defects and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support. It does not cover accidental damage, cosmetic wear, or batteries that have degraded through normal use.

Paid AppleCare+ plans extend service coverage, provide priority technical support, and cover accidental damage for separate service fees. For products with rechargeable batteries, battery service is available at no extra charge when capacity falls below 80%.

AppleCare plan differences

AppleCare is an umbrella term for Apple’s paid service plans, not a separate coverage tier. AppleCare+ applies to one device, while AppleCare One combines multiple eligible products under one monthly subscription.

AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss is available for eligible iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. A single-device plan allows up to two approved theft or loss claims in 12 months; Find My must be enabled when the incident occurs and remain enabled during the claim.

AppleCare One pricing in the U.S.

The Individual plan costs $19.99 per month and covers up to three devices. Each additional device costs $5.99 per month. Family costs $49.99 per month and covers the subscriber’s devices plus those of up to five other Family Sharing members.

Individual allows three theft or loss claims across the plan every 12 months, while Family allows six. Adding more devices does not create a separate claim allowance for each device.

AppleCare One Individual is available in Australia, France, Germany, the U.K., and the U.S. Family is currently available only in the U.S.

Service fees and deductibles

In the U.S., eligible iPhone screen-only or back-glass-only damage costs $29 to service, while other accidental damage costs $99. Apple Watch fees are $69, or $79 for Ultra and Hermès models; iPad fees are $29 for screen damage and $99 for other accidental damage.

The theft-and-loss deductible is $149 for an iPhone, $129 for an iPad, and $119 for an Apple Watch. Plan prices and service fees vary by country, device, and coverage terms.

Apple may require a diagnostic test or inspection before enrolling an already-owned device in AppleCare One. The device must be linked to the relevant Apple Account, and eligible products can be added, removed, or swapped as needs change.

Whether AppleCare is worthwhile depends on the premiums over the expected ownership period, possible service fees, and the cost of an uncovered repair. Apple also suggests comparing its plans with coverage from banks, mobile carriers, and insurance providers.
