Modders run FSR 4.1.2 on Intel Arc with XMX acceleration
The OptiScaler community adapted FSR 4.1.2 Lite for Intel Arc GPUs using XMX cores. Tests showed higher image quality than XeSS SR, while one benchmark reached 101.5 FPS versus 101.1 FPS for Intel’s scaler.

The OptiScaler modding community has run an experimental version of FSR 4.1.2 Lite on Intel Arc graphics processors. The implementation uses dedicated XMX cores for hardware acceleration and outperformed native XeSS SR in image quality in early tests at comparable rendering costs.
OptiScaler developers experimented with modified FSR 4 INT8 DLLs optimized for Intel Xe Matrix Extensions. This approach reduces processing time compared with the conventional DP4a execution path.
Intel Arc A770 test results
In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, an Intel Arc A770 running at 1080p in Quality mode delivered 101.5 FPS with FSR 4.1.2 Lite, compared with 101.1 FPS for XeSS SR. Latency was 0.75 ms versus 0.84 ms.
A separate test by an Intel Arc B580 owner used Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at 1080p with the Balanced preset. Latency measured 0.59 ms for FSR 4.1.2 Lite, 0.58 ms for XeSS SR and 0.85 ms for the full FSR 4.1.2 model.
FSR 4.1.2 Lite uses a smaller neural model aimed primarily at mobile chips, handheld devices and APUs. It lowers computational requirements while retaining image quality close to that of the full model.
Results vary by game, resolution and upscaling settings. The implementation remains experimental: users have reported problems in titles including Crimson Desert, while compatibility is currently strongest through DirectX 12.
