The Wolf Among Us 2 targets 2027 release with overhauled exploration

Telltale showed an early version of The Wolf Among Us 2 at Gamescom. The sequel is planned for release in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The story takes place several months after the first game. Bigby Wolf is investigating another case with human detective Faye, while his ability to transform into a wolf appears to be slipping beyond his full control.

Exploration shifts behind the shoulder

Telltale has reworked area exploration and moved the gameplay to an over-the-shoulder perspective. The team is also targeting roughly the same length as the original game.

The demo followed Bigby and Faye as they investigated a serial killer’s apartment. Its central conflict focused on Bigby’s internal struggle and whether he would reveal the truth about magic and fairytale creatures.

Returning cast and developers

Adam Harrington is returning as Bigby. Telltale also confirmed that some members of the original development team are back, including the cinematic director, while many new developers are working on the sequel.

The game is being built in Unreal Engine. The team said it wants to retain familiar elements of the series while introducing fresh ones.

A standalone story for newcomers

The developers said players will not need to have played the first game to follow the sequel. Returning fans will still find dedicated elements and Easter eggs.

Telltale hopes to make more games if The Wolf Among Us 2 succeeds. No physical release has been announced.
