Warner Bros. Delays Untitled ‘Gremlins’ Sequel to October 2028

Warner Bros. has changed the release dates for two films: the third Gremlins installment and DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation’s Dynamic Duo.

The Gremlins movie has moved from Nov. 19, 2027, to Oct. 6, 2028. Chris Columbus, who wrote the 1984 original, is directing; Hannah Marks is writing from an early draft by Columbus and Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.

The third film’s production team

Amblin Entertainment’s Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario are producing with Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe through 26th Street Pictures. Steven Spielberg and Eleanor Columbus are executive producers.

Joe Dante directed the original Gremlins, about creatures that are both appealing and dangerous. Dante also directed the divisive 1990 sequel. Amblin and Warner Bros. have released two seasons of the animated series Secrets of the Mogwai, which has aired on HBO Max since 2023.

Dynamic Duo moves to September

Dynamic Duo will now open Sept. 22, 2028, instead of June 30. The animated film will focus on two young men who have held the Robin mantle: Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.

The Swaybox production will combine animation, puppetry and CGI. Matt Aldrich is writing, while DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing with Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho. The new date falls seven months after The Batman: Part II, which is scheduled to open in February 2028.
