Trey Parker and Matt Stone Apologize for Delay of Paramount’s 'Whitney Springs' with Kendrick Lamar

Paramount’s musical comedy 'Whitney Springs', developed by Park County with Kendrick Lamar and pgLang, has been delayed and its creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued an apology for the schedule slips.

Parker and Stone said “we take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie”, apologized to their partners at pgLang and Paramount, and added that South Park and life’s circumstances have interfered but they “still believe in the project.” The film is currently undated after multiple pushes.

The Ankler reported the plot centers on a Black reenactor at a historical slave plantation museum who clashes with the town’s racist mayor, a role played by Parker, and said the movie will include original, unreleased songs by Kendrick Lamar.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote in November that 'Whitney Springs' was removed from its planned theatrical release date of March 20, 2026; the film had earlier been shifted from its initial date of July 4, 2025 amid Lamar’s planned tour and South Park production duties.

Producer Vernon Chatman wrote the script and no cast members have been officially announced. Park County and pgLang said in November, “We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”
