Shyamalan–Sparks Romance 'Remain' Debuts Trailer Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor — Release Feb 14, 2027

Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the first look at Remain — a collaboration between director M. Night Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks.

The trailer, released Tuesday, features Jake Gyllenhaal as a reclusive architect who moves to a small coastal town to finish a project. There he meets an alluring young woman played by Phoebe Dynevor, and the two fall in love as a deadly mystery hangs over the town.

Footage shows the pair bonding over board games and domestic moments in the house where Gyllenhaal’s character stays, before the trailer cuts to a darker reality the couple may face.

Shyamalan directs from his own screenplay; the story is credited to Shyamalan and Sparks. Producers listed are M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and Theresa Park, with Sparks as executive producer.

Sparks told The Hollywood Reporter that Shyamalan had been involved years earlier on an original Notebook script and that the two later reunited to create a story that became Remain, which was also released as a novel last October.

Sparks praised the leads, saying Jake was “great” and that Phoebe was one of three actresses considered for the role; he called both performers “amazing.”

The film is scheduled to open in theaters on February 14, 2027.
