PlatinumGames teases Bayonetta’s future and praises Nintendo Switch 2’s potential

PlatinumGames discussed Nintendo Switch 2 and Bayonetta’s future during a joint conversation between CEO Atsushi Inaba and Shift Up’s Kim Hyung Tae.

Inaba confirmed that PlatinumGames has not released a game for Nintendo Switch 2 yet, but described the console as hardware with “so much potential.” He also acknowledged that porting games and optimizing them for docked and handheld play can be challenging.

Inaba withholds the next Bayonetta details

Asked about the series’ direction, Inaba did not disclose specific plans. He said he wants to expand Bayonetta as a character and broaden her world, asking fans to wait to see what form that will take.

Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames at the end of 2023. The studio has not publicly provided detailed information about the franchise’s future since his departure.

Bayonetta heads to two crossover projects

PlatinumGames and Shift Up previously announced a collaboration that will add special Bayonetta costumes to Stellar Blade in time for its Nintendo Switch 2 launch in November. After Stellar Blade, Bayonetta’s next appearance will be in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

During the discussion, Kim praised Bayonetta’s design as she approaches her 17th anniversary. Inaba compared Eve from Stellar Blade with Bayonetta’s direction and jokingly mentioned continuing the series through Bayonetta 10.
