The studio is currently seeking a writer for the project. F. Gary Gray’s 2003 film, inspired by the 1969 original starring Michael Caine, centered on Mark Wahlberg’s Charlie Croker and drew notice for action sequences featuring Mini Coopers.
The Italian Job was released May 30, 2003 PT (UTC−7) and grossed $176 million worldwide, making it Paramount’s highest-grossing release that year; sequel discussions at the time did not materialize.
Feig’s other attached projects include The Housemaid’s Secret and the sequel to his 2025 feature The Housemaid, scheduled for late 2027 from Lionsgate with Sydney Sweeney and Kirsten Dunst, and the horror film Detention for Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
