Apple TV 4K fourth-generation image reveals unchanged design and rumored Wi-Fi 7

An image of an unreleased fourth-generation Apple TV 4K was found in an Apple file. MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris discovered it, potentially indicating that Apple is preparing a new model for release.

The pictured device has the same exterior design as the current Apple TV 4K. Apple has not confirmed the rumored internal changes.

Rumored hardware upgrades

The reported possibilities include an A17 Pro or newer chip, 8GB of RAM, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support, and an Apple-designed N1 chip. A faster processor could improve general performance and enable hardware-accelerated ray tracing in games.

The N1 chip is expected to add Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Wi-Fi 7 can use the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands simultaneously with compatible equipment and is theoretically up to four times faster than the current model’s Wi-Fi 6. Actual speeds would still depend on internet providers and other factors.

Siri AI and revised remote

Siri AI could be the device’s main software feature, with tvOS 27 expected to include a dedicated Siri app on Apple TV. The increase to 8GB of RAM would also support Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features.

A revised Siri Remote is also expected, although its external changes remain unclear.

Current model and pricing

The current Apple TV 4K was announced in October 2022. It uses an A15 Bionic chip and has 4GB of RAM.

In June, Apple raised prices on 14 products, including Apple TV 4K. In the United States, the 64GB Wi-Fi model now starts at $199, up from $129, while the 128GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet version starts at $249, up from $149. It is unclear whether the next model will keep those prices.

October is a common month for Apple product announcements, but no launch date for the next Apple TV 4K has been confirmed.
