Danish director Mads Mengel’s debut feature The Guest has been sold in the U.S. and nine European territories. The deals follow the film’s prize-winning world premiere in competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July.

Danish director Mads Mengel’s debut feature The Guest has been sold for release in the U.S. and nine European territories after its prize-winning world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July.
Copenhagen-based LevelK made the U.S. deal with Juno Films. European sales cover France, Spain, Benelux, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Poland, Slovenia and other territories, as well as Switzerland.
European distributors for The Guest
L’atelier d’Images acquired France, Karma Films took Spain and Cherry Pickers secured Benelux. CinemArt will distribute the film in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Estinfilm in Estonia and Vertigo Media in Hungary.
New Cinema acquired Israel, Best Film took Poland, Fivia secured Slovenia and additional territories, and Praesens Film acquired Switzerland.
The film premiered in competition at Karlovy Vary in July and received a prize. A related review described it as an adult family drama starring Trine Dyrholm.
