Apple opens iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders and unveils new devices

Apple opened pre-orders for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Saturday, September 12, at 5 a.m. PT (12:00 UTC) through its website and Apple Store app.

Both models feature a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, the A20 Pro chip and a vapor-chamber cooling system. They run iOS 27 with the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.

Apple also announced new watches, earbuds and desktop computers. Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 will go on sale September 18, while Mac mini and Mac Studio will reach stores on September 22.

AirPods 5 add open-ear ANC

AirPods 5 use an open-ear design, new multiport acoustic architecture and Adaptive EQ. Apple says their active noise cancellation removes up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC.

The model with a wireless charging case offers longer battery life, while a stem sensor enables volume changes with a swipe — a first for Apple’s open-ear form factor. The earbuds also support head-gesture controls and Live Translation.

New Mac mini and Mac Studio specifications

Mac mini is offered with the M6 and M5 Pro chips. Apple says the M6 version delivers up to four times faster AI performance, 40 percent faster CPU performance, and twice the storage and graphics performance of the previous generation.

Mac Studio comes with M5 Max and the new M5 Ultra. It supports up to 512GB of unified memory, up to 1.2TB/s of memory bandwidth, Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

U.S. trade-in and payment offers

In the U.S., Apple offers up to $885 in credit for trading in an iPhone 13 or newer. Carrier offers can provide up to $1,200 when customers trade in an iPhone 14 or newer device.

Apple Upgrade offers 12- or 24-month leases for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- or 36-month leases for Mac Studio. Listed starting payments are $34.99 per month for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch and $48.99 for Mac Studio, excluding taxes and trade-in credit.
