Final Fantasy Resonance is the series’ first HD-2D game. It is now available through the Nintendo eShop and at retail.
Story and characters
The RPG follows Rain, a knight of the Kingdom of Grandshelt and commander of an airship squadron. He sets out with his childhood friend Laswell on a crystal-centered journey involving dramatic twists and major confrontations. Cloud, Tidus and the Warrior of Light also appear.
Final Fantasy Resonance is based on the first story arc of the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Square Enix says it is not a direct port, but a substantially rebuilt console RPG.
Battles and side content
The game uses turn-based battles with systems for exploiting weaknesses, breaking enemy defenses and gaining extra turns. Players can add Visions—echoes of Final Fantasy characters with unique skills and Resonance attacks—to customize their party.
Optional challenges include difficult bosses, a Colosseum with monsters and rewards, the Chamber of Arms with enemies guarding legendary weapons, and a battle against Ultima Weapon.
