iOS 27 lets iPhone users create custom passes in Apple Wallet

In iOS 27, Apple’s Wallet app can create custom digital passes from physical event tickets, gift cards, loyalty cards and membership cards when no ready-made Wallet version is available.

Users can photograph a card with Visual Intelligence. The system matches it to a suitable template, which can then be edited before the pass is added to Wallet.

Three templates for different cards

A pass can also be created manually with the Membership, Event or Custom template. Users can adjust its appearance and then scan the barcode or QR code on the physical card.

Templates include relevant fields such as a name, location and admission type. The design options include 12 background colors and seven custom backgrounds for categories including theater, music, sports and movies.

Custom passes can include or remove fields. Available options include a label, date, membership, contact information, coupon code, VIN and insurance.

Adding a pass with Visual Intelligence

In Wallet, tap the plus button at the top, select Continue and photograph the physical card. After the template is recognized, tap Edit Pass.

The palette icon in the lower-left corner changes the background color or selects an image from the Photos library. The lower-right icon manages the fields, while the blue checkmark at the top saves the pass.

A saved pass can be edited later by opening it in Wallet, tapping the three-dot button in the upper-right corner and selecting Edit Pass.
