Apple and The King’s Trust have launched Creative Labs, an education program for young people seeking careers in the creative industries.

The first cohort includes up to 20 participants aged 18 to 30. They will take part in specialized workshops using Apple technologies and engage with the company’s experts.

The initiative began this week with music industry and creative workshops. The sessions are linked to the recent opening of Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station in London; further sessions and cohorts are planned over the next year.

Skills for creative-industry careers

Participants will receive access to technology, resources, mentorship and practical skills connected with different career pathways. Apple said the program is intended to help young people build confidence and prepare for employment.

The King’s Trust is marking its 50th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 1976, the organization has helped 1.3 million young people across the UK develop life skills, prepare for work, access employment opportunities or start businesses.

Earlier joint education programs

Since 2019, Apple’s support has enabled The King’s Trust to expand its Achieve STEAM program to schools in every region of the UK. Participants use Apple coding resources to work collaboratively and develop apps addressing the needs of their communities.

The King’s Trust’s 12-week Team program also gives young adults access to Apple technology and learning resources while they work toward a Personal Development and Employability qualification. The organizations are additionally developing resources to build AI literacy among educators and young people.
