Apple opens 600-capacity Apple Music Hall in London with Spatial Audio

Apple has opened Apple Music Hall, a new live music venue at London’s Battersea Power Station beside the River Thames. The company presents it as an intimate performance space with large-scale production capabilities.

The venue holds 600 people and includes a 38-foot-wide stage that can be configured for front-facing performances or shows staged among the audience. A 48-speaker spatial audio system surrounds the crowd.

Two recording and mixing studios sit behind the stage. Performances can be captured as multitrack recordings, mixed live or later in Spatial Audio, and turned into a broadcast-ready mix.

The venue is wired for 16 or more cameras and includes a dedicated broadcast control room. Its infrastructure supports iPhone video capture alongside conventional broadcast cameras.

Global streams and Apple Music Radio

Performances from Apple Music Hall will be livestreamed globally, allowing audiences outside London to watch. Apple did not provide specific dates for upcoming shows in the material.

Apple also announced new Apple Music Radio studios at Battersea. All of the service’s London-based hosts and shows will now broadcast live from the facility.

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content, said the venue was intended to strengthen connections between artists and fans. Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director, described it as a way to share performances with audiences worldwide.
