Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake confirmed at 60fps with new gameplay features
The Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been confirmed to run at 60 frames per second and adds several changes over the Nintendo 64 version. New details include a fifth bottle, expanded Navi interactions, amiibo support and adjusted dungeon sections.
New material for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2 has revealed several features and changes not present in the Nintendo 64 original. The game will run at 60 frames per second.
Among the additions is a fifth bottle, obtained from the potion shop by catching a bug inside the store. The remake also introduces the Business Seed Scrub, an item that summons a Deku merchant so players can buy arrows or bombs without returning to a regular shop.
New Navi and item features
Certain environmental locations now trigger “fairy thoughts,” with Navi revealing secrets. Navi’s appearance has also been updated: her ball of light is fuzzy, and her wings have a more complex pattern.
Once both instruments are in the inventory, players can choose between Saria’s Ocarina and the Ocarina of Time. In the earlier version, the second ocarina effectively replaced Saria’s gift.
Amiibo and dungeon changes
All previous Zelda amiibo are compatible with the game. Scanning them can provide heart refills, ammunition and magic jars. Two new Ocarina of Time amiibo figures are scheduled for 2027 and unlock Nintendo 64-themed masks.
Recent previews also showed part of the Forest Temple. Some rooms and puzzles have been adjusted from the original, suggesting that other dungeons may receive similarly small changes, although several have not been shown in much detail.
Other previously revealed remake features include a jump button, voice acting, deeper NPC dialogue and fully orchestrated music.
