Code in watchOS 27.2 points to a new screenshot workflow for Apple Watch. The feature could show a preview immediately after a capture and offer options to share or delete it.
The finding was reported by code explorer pdfu. The option is hidden behind a disabled feature flag, so it could appear in a later watchOS 27.2 beta, but that has not been confirmed.
Apple Watch screenshot workflow today
Currently, an Apple Watch screenshot is sent directly to the iPhone Photos app without a confirmation screen. Capturing one requires pressing the Digital Crown and side button at the same time, which can lead to accidental screenshots.
On iPhone, a screenshot produces either a full-screen or thumbnail preview, depending on the user’s settings. Both formats allow the image to be saved, shared or deleted with a few taps.
Screenshots are disabled by default on Apple Watch. Users can enable them in the watch’s Settings app or through the Apple Watch app on iPhone; the proposed feature would provide control over individual captures rather than only a general on/off switch.
