Volkswagen has unveiled the electric ID. Tiguan as the successor to the ID.4. European deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2027, while the US launch is expected later.

The new crossover has a taller profile and a more conventional Volkswagen front end than the ID.4. Inside, Volkswagen has returned physical steering-wheel buttons, added separate keys and a volume control below the main screen, and restored conventional rear-window switches on the driver’s door.

Battery and powertrain options

The ID. Tiguan will be offered with 58 kWh and 77 kWh batteries, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The entry version uses a 190 hp rear motor; 77 kWh variants produce 286 hp with rear-wheel drive or 299 hp with all-wheel drive.

The longest claimed range belongs to the rear-wheel-drive 77 kWh version: up to 600 km under the WLTP cycle. That is 50 km more than the corresponding ID.4’s stated range.

Practical features and equipment

The crossover includes a small front trunk, one-pedal driving and V2L, which can use the traction battery to power external electrical devices. The driver and multimedia displays are larger, and the interface can reproduce the look of instrument panels from older Volkswagen models.

Volkswagen has confirmed an American-market launch but has not provided exact US timing. Pricing has not yet been announced.
