The Nordic countries are accelerating AI infrastructure and applications, drawing on renewable energy, data-governance rules and the region’s research base.

AI-cloud capacity across the region is projected to reach 1 gigawatt by the end of 2027. Providers named in the source include Bitdeer, CoreWeave, Crusoe, Hyperstack, Nscale, Verda and Volta.

Sweden’s shared supercomputer

In Sweden, a consortium involving Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Saab, SEB and Wallenberg Investments, with SKF as a strategic partner, launched Sferical One. The system combines two NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs, 16 racks of NVIDIA DGX GB300 systems and 1,152 GPUs.

The consortium plans to build services with NVIDIA Nemotron open models, allowing researchers to customize and deploy models in a secure environment.

Industrial and enterprise AI applications

Spotify uses TensorRT-LLM to accelerate personalized podcast recommendations and reduce query costs. ABB Robotics developed RobotStudio HyperReality with NVIDIA Omniverse libraries; the company says it delivers up to 99% simulation accuracy and cuts commissioning time by up to 80%.

Finnish telecom company Elisa is launching a beta of Moontalk AIRI, an enterprise assistant that retrieves information, captures insights and documents decisions during meetings and calls in real time.

Startups and specialized models

Swedish startups raised $2.8 billion in the first half of 2026 and are projected by the source to reach $5 billion for the year. Stockholm-based Stilta is post-training Nemotron models to analyze patent portfolios, while ConfidentialMind reports more than a 20% improvement in cross-lingual retrieval accuracy across English, Finnish and Swedish.

Swedish speech lab Klang created Pianissimo, a transcription model based on Parakeet v3. The company says it reduces errors by 75% and runs 64 times faster than the most accurate alternative. It was trained on more than 50,000 hours of Swedish speech.

Embedl and Space Cargo Unlimited unveiled a prototype for monitoring protein crystallization on a single NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX module without continuous ground connectivity. Sweden AI Factory also announced an agreement with NVIDIA to open its infrastructure to Inception startups and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Autonomous systems and quantum research

Einride is developing the Einride Driver system for autonomous freight trucks using NVIDIA Hyperion, Halos and Cosmos open world models. Toyota Material Handling Europe, NVIDIA and SoftServe are using simulation for autonomous material-handling machines, with deployment time expected to fall by up to 50%.

Norrsken Foundation and NVIDIA plan to open the Stockholm AI Lab in 2027. FirstQFM said accelerated NVIDIA computing reduced quantum-processor execution time by 33% without sacrificing performance; the result was validated on a QuantWare quantum processor unit.
