Live-action The Legend of Zelda titled simply 'The Legend of Zelda' — trailer and details from Nintendo Direct

Columbia Pictures and Nintendo premiered the first trailer for the live‑action The Legend of Zelda during a Nintendo Direct celebrating the series' 40th anniversary.

The film stars Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Wes Ball directs; principal photography began in October 2025 and has already wrapped in New Zealand.

Shigeru Miyamoto said viewers will understand why the film carries no subtitle after they see it and asked what role the Triforce will play. The filmmakers intend to draw on elements from the franchise's 40‑year history rather than adapt a single game.

The movie will have a theatrical run and will later stream on Netflix at an undisclosed time after its initial release.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth recently played Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon Season 3. Ainsworth was eight when Breath of the Wild launched and will be 18 years old on the film's scheduled release date, April 30, 2027.
