Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles during the day on October 10. Explosions were reported across the capital, and Ukrainian officials and services said at least four people were injured.

A missile struck a restaurant building in Kyiv’s Obolonskyi district. Emergency crews extinguished a fire covering 200 square metres, while missile debris fell in the yard of a residential building at another location.

Metro resumed with longer intervals

At about 13:00, Kyiv Metro temporarily halted trains and escalators after losing voltage from external power centres. Service resumed roughly an hour later: waiting times were 12–15 minutes on the red and green lines and more than 15 minutes on the blue line.

It was the second metro suspension in two days. Service had also been temporarily halted on October 8 because of falling voltage in Kyiv’s power system.

Large-scale outages hit Kyiv region

Private energy company DTEK reported new large-scale outages in the capital. Ukrenergo said several grid elements supplying parts of Kyiv and the region had been disconnected, leaving a significant number of consumers without power. Stabilisation schedules were not in effect.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported water-supply disruptions. Trams and trolleybuses also stopped because of the power problems, while Kyiv City Express continued operating and ran additional services between the two banks of the Dnipro at 10-minute intervals during peak hours.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said some of the missiles had been intercepted. Monitoring channels preliminarily reported that Zircon missiles might have been used.

Three days earlier, on the night of October 7, a Russian ballistic attack on Kyiv killed two people. Earlier strikes on the capital were also reported on October 3.
