Anthony Chen’s film We Are All Strangers has been selected as Singapore’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said.
The choice was made by a Selection Committee drawn from eligible members of the Singapore Film Commission Advisory Committee (SFCAC). The film is set in contemporary Singapore and focuses on family relationships and unexpected life changes.
The cast includes Chen’s frequent collaborators Yeo Yann Yann and Koh Jia Ler, with Andi Lim and Regene Lim also appearing. Earlier this year the film became the first Singaporean title chosen for the main competition at the Berlin Film Festival, where it competed against 21 other international films for the Golden Bear.
