Nintendo plans to bring back the special Switch 2 system and other Zelda: Ocarina of Time products after stock sold out across many regions.

Bill van Zyll, Nintendo’s vice president and general manager for Latin America, said the company underestimated demand for the game, calling it “a global phenomenon.” He said pre-orders had already reached their limits in some markets.

Game and console release dates

Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition console will arrive earlier, on October 29, 2026.

The game was announced during the summer and formally revealed last month. Its gameplay trailer has surpassed 10 million views on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel, while the game has already appeared on several bestseller charts based on pre-orders.

Nintendo has no restock dates yet

Van Zyll confirmed that Nintendo is working on replenishments for the special hardware, controller and software. The company has not yet provided dates or quantities for the new stock.

He said demand exceeded expectations in several markets, including the United States and Brazil. Nintendo is asking customers to be patient.

Best Buy will hold a midnight launch for the game and will have limited quantities of The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 system and Pro Controller.
