Detailed claimed specifications for Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA RTX Spark have surfaced ahead of release. A Windows Central report describes two processor configurations and memory options reaching 128GB.
The base version is reportedly set to use an 18-core RTX Spark chip with 5,120 Blackwell GPU cores and 24GB or 32GB of unified memory. The higher-end configuration is said to have a 20-core processor, 6,144 graphics cores and 32GB, 48GB, 64GB or 128GB of memory.
Claimed AI capabilities
Microsoft says the 24GB unified-memory model should be able to run AI models with more than 120 billion parameters locally. However, storing the weights of such a model may require about 60GB even with 4-bit quantization, before accounting for additional memory needed during operation.
Display and connectivity
The laptop is reportedly equipped with a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen reaching up to 2,000 nits in HDR mode, with a pixel density of 262 PPI. The report also mentions a haptic touchpad and a chassis thinner than 18mm.
Connectivity is said to include three USB-C ports, USB-A, HDMI, a full-size SD-card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. Microsoft also claims the device will retain 99.6% of its performance on battery power.
The Windows Central report does not list prices. It also provides no evidence that the RTX Spark platform will target affordable laptops, including in its entry-level configuration.
