Meta unveils 100-gram VR Glasses for $1,299.99, coming spring 2027

On September 23, 2026, Meta introduced Meta VR Glasses, a virtual reality device weighing about 100 grams. Unlike a conventional headset, the glasses have no straps: displays and sensors sit in the frame, while a separate puck connected by an optical tether holds the processor, battery and storage.

Meta describes a 5K Infinite Display using micro-OLED panels at 37 pixels per degree, with Dolby Vision and built-in Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The device uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite processor. According to Meta, the puck provides up to three hours of high-resolution media playback and supports 45W charging.

The glasses are intended for films, games and work across multiple virtual screens. Meta says users can control them with their voice, eyes and hand gestures without controllers, turn a flat surface into a keyboard and touchpad, and see their surroundings through full-color passthrough. The company also announced IMAX Enhanced certification and more than 75 games playable using hand gestures at launch.

Meta says VR Glasses will go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299.99 in the United States. That is the announced US price; the company did not specify a Canadian price or availability date in this announcement.
