MacPaw launches Eney, a proactive AI assistant for Mac and iPhone
MacPaw has launched Eney, an AI assistant designed to work across apps, files and system functions on Mac and iPhone. It combines local and cloud models, supports eight languages and offers a 14-day free trial.
MacPaw has launched Eney, a proactive AI assistant for Mac and iPhone that uses context from the device, apps, files and calendar to suggest actions for user approval.
The service can flag an upcoming call, prepare a meeting summary, warn about low disk space or help organize the Downloads folder. Development began in 2019 as an idea for controlling CleanMyMac with natural-language commands.
System-wide access across apps
Eney Wand can be activated by moving the cursor over text, pressing Option + W or double-tapping the Option key. It lets users send text to the assistant without copying it into a separate chat window.
Eney works with Apple Mail, Calendar and Reminders, as well as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Notion, Jira and Linear. It can translate or summarize selected text, transcribe calls, and prepare notes, action items and follow-up invitations.
Local models and Mnemos memory
MacPaw developed custom models with Liquid AI, optimizing them for Apple hardware. Eney uses both local and cloud-based models, with more demanding tasks potentially relying on the cloud.
Its Mnemos memory system connects information about people, projects, preferences and events in a knowledge graph. MacPaw says the system is designed to store and process memories locally on the Mac, but its current Eney integration is limited to managing the assistant’s own memories. Eney also supports importing ChatGPT archives.
Eight languages and three plans
Eney Spell corrects spelling, grammar and wording in Mail, Slack, Notes and the browser. At launch, the service supports English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese and Ukrainian.
After a 14-day trial with 10,000 AI credits, users can choose Starter at $14.99 per month with 10,000 credits, Boost at $29.99 with 20,000 credits, or Power at $49.99 with 30,000 credits. Users can sign in with a Setapp account, but a Setapp membership is not required.
