iOS 27.2 redesigns Apple Music and Books with new icons and controls
Apple is set to launch iOS 27.2 next week with design updates for Apple Music and Books. Music adopts a black-and-white visual treatment, while Books adds reading progress tracking and revised navigation controls.
Apple plans to release iOS 27.2 next week. The update will include design changes for the Music and Books apps.
Apple Music adopts a monochrome look
Music will get a new app icon without its former red color, using a black-and-white design instead. The active tab in the navigation bar will turn blue, while Library sections including Playlists, Artists and Albums will become monochrome.
Music widgets on the Home Screen and in Today View will also lose their red background. They will use a black background instead.
Books gets revised reading controls
The Books changes focus on the reading view. The app will add progress bars to show a reader’s location in a book.
The bottom-right menu will receive a new icon and use the standard Liquid Glass design. The bookmark control will leave that menu and become a standalone button in the upper-right corner of the reading view.
The “X” button will move to the upper-left corner, while the Back button will move to the lower-left and become larger. The source suggests the changes may be connected to the introduction of the iPhone Duo, but Apple has not officially given that reason.
