Gurman Walks Back Claim That OLED MacBook Pro Will Be Significantly Thinner
Mark Gurman has revised his earlier reporting on Apple’s upcoming touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, saying it likely will not be significantly thinner than current models. The laptop is expected to launch later this month.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has softened his earlier reporting that Apple’s upcoming OLED MacBook Pro would be thinner than current models. He now says the difference in thickness likely will not be significant.
Gurman still expects the touchscreen laptop to be significantly lighter. He said the model is expected to launch later this month.
Gurman’s forecast has changed
In October 2025, Gurman reported that the OLED MacBook Pro models would have thinner and lighter frames. In November, he again said the touchscreen versions would use a thinner chassis.
His October 2026 newsletter instead said the devices would only be “significantly lighter.” Later, replying to a question on X, Gurman wrote: “I don't think it'll be significantly thinner in the end.”
The revision narrows his earlier claim about reduced thickness. Based on Gurman’s statements, a lower weight does not necessarily mean a comparable reduction in the laptop’s thickness.
