Google Cloud and NVIDIA announced general availability of NVIDIA Vera Rubin infrastructure for model training, inference and large-scale reinforcement learning. A5X instances are planned to become available next month.

The first customer to access A5X was London-based technology company Ineffable Intelligence, founded by AlphaGo creator David Silver. The company is using the platform for large-scale reinforcement learning and for developing “superlearner” systems that continually improve through experience.

A5X combines NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72, NVIDIA ConnectX-9 SuperNICs, Google Cloud Virgo Network and Google Cloud’s fourth-generation advanced liquid-cooling technology. Google Cloud plans to scale its Vera Rubin infrastructure to as many as 960,000 Rubin GPUs across multiple sites.

A5X combines compute and networking

The system is integrated into Google Cloud’s AI Hypercomputer and combines compute, networking and storage for experience-driven learning. Silver said the architecture allows results from agents’ work to feed more quickly into subsequent training cycles.

WPP tested a creative-agent architecture on A5X using NVIDIA Nemotron models and NVIDIA OpenShell. The agents turn requests into multistep workflows, including video generation, upscaling and restyling, with human approval required before execution.

In WPP’s initial tests, workloads that typically required a multi-node cluster ran on a single A5X instance. OpenShell provides governed sandboxes with controlled access to brand assets and creative tools.

Google Cloud expands confidential computing

Google Cloud said it will be among the first cloud providers to offer NVIDIA Confidential Computing at rack scale for bare-metal instances, including A4X Max instances powered by NVIDIA GB300 NVL72. Confidential Computing is also generally available on G4 virtual machines with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs.

Vertebrae, Polaris Cloud and Confidential Core AI are named as Confidential G4 customers. They use the platform for conversational privacy, verifiable agent execution and policy-governed enterprise intelligence.

Google Cloud and NVIDIA are also exploring NVIDIA DSX MaxLPS capabilities for Vera Rubin-based infrastructure to optimize performance per watt and expand capacity within available data-center power budgets.
