Google announces Fitbit Edge between Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Air
Google is releasing its second Fitbit tracker of 2026, the Fitbit Edge. It has a 1.34-inch OLED display, more health sensors than the Fitbit Air and about seven days of battery life without always-on display mode.
Google has introduced the Fitbit Edge as a fitness tracker positioned between the Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Air. It is aimed at users of the aging Charge 6 and uses a more compact format than the smartwatch.
The Edge has a 1.34-inch touchscreen OLED display in a slim aluminum body rated IP68 and 5 ATM. Google says the screen offers 46% more viewable area than the Charge 6. The tracker has more health sensors than the Fitbit Air and uses the same magnetic charging puck.
Battery life and data storage
Fitbit Edge works with Android and iPhones through the Google Health app. It lasts about seven days per charge and can store seven days of full health data or 30 days of basic data when it is away from a phone.
Always-on display mode reduces battery life to about two days, nearly matching the Pixel Watch 5. The seven-day estimate applies without that mode enabled.
Controls and lineup position
The Edge has one tactile side button for waking the device or starting and pausing workouts. Most interactions use the touchscreen; the Pixel Watch has two buttons, while the Fitbit Air has none.
The Edge does not offer all of the Pixel Watch 5’s apps and features. Google positions it as a substantially cheaper option, at about half the price of the Pixel Watch 5.
