God of War: Laufey opens pre-orders on September 29 with Faye combat details

Santa Monica Studio will open pre-orders for God of War: Laufey on September 29. The studio also showed Faye’s combat system, built around speed, attack combinations and an enchanted bow.

The game is scheduled to launch on February 16, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Faye’s bow has two firing modes

Faye’s main weapon will be the Serpent Bow. It can quickly shift from a folded form into a firing position, allowing her to combine shots with close-range attacks.

A full press of the aiming button provides more accurate shots and greater range. Faye can target specific parts of enemies’ bodies, restrict their movement or attacks, and store up to five arrows for a powerful volley.

A partial press switches Faye to a more mobile stance. The bow fires a group of arrows at close range, helps extend combos and can attack enemies in the air.

Equipment will affect gameplay

The game will include several arrow types, including options for rapid fire, explosive attacks and hitting multiple targets. Phranque’s ability to launch enemies into the air can be combined with the bow to create longer combos.

Players will be able to adjust equipment appearance and properties through several item types. Armor sets will have their own characteristics and bonuses rather than changing only Faye’s appearance.

Pre-order customers will receive three bonuses. One listed reward is the Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance cosmetic item; bonus equipment will unlock gradually as the story progresses.

Santa Monica Studio said it would reveal more details in the coming weeks. Fans have also pointed to a mysterious splinter in the trailer as a possible hint at Odin’s return, but the source does not confirm that interpretation.
