Elon Musk agrees to settle lawsuits over 2024 election lottery
Elon Musk and his America PAC political committee have agreed to settle two proposed class actions over promised daily $1m lottery payments before the 2024 US election. The terms were not disclosed and require court approval.
Elon Musk and America PAC have agreed to settle two related proposed class actions in federal court in Austin, Texas. The parties told the judge on Thursday that the settlements had been reached, subject to court approval.
The plaintiffs allege that Musk and the committee misled voters by promising randomly selected signatories to a petition supporting the US Constitution a $1m daily payment.
Settlement terms remain undisclosed
Arizona residents brought the two cases. They say the promise targeted voters in seven closely contested states during the 2024 US election.
The court filings did not disclose the settlement terms. Lawyers involved either declined to comment or did not respond to requests for further information.
Musk founded America PAC to support Donald Trump, who successfully ran for a second US presidency in November 2024. In June, a federal judge ruled that Musk — the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of the social media platform X — must testify in the lawsuits.
