Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 posts the series’ best rating in 16 years

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has become the series’ best-rated game on Steam in 16 years. At the time of reporting, 92% of 4,202 reviews were positive, giving it Steam’s “Very Positive” rating.

Reviews were posted before the full launch because the campaign is available through preorder early access. The current score may therefore change once the remaining modes are released.

Modern Warfare 4 leads recent entries

According to SteamDB, Black Ops 7 has 38.7% positive reviews, Black Ops 6 has 45.7%, and Modern Warfare III has 48.1%. Among relatively recent series entries, Black Ops III stands out at 84.3%.

The official release is scheduled for October 23 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

Multiplayer and DMZ follow launch

After release, players will get a multiplayer mode with 12 main maps for six-versus-six matches. DMZ will also launch as an extraction shooter in which squads of up to three players complete objectives in a dangerous zone and try to extract.

The larger player base and additional reviews will determine whether the game maintains its current rating.
