Ubisoft has cut 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore three months after the launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The publisher said the move is intended to align the studio with upcoming production needs.

The game sold 2 million copies in its first day and 3 million in its first week, exceeding Ubisoft’s annual expectations within two weeks. Ubisoft said Singapore remains an important part of its global production organization.

Ubisoft plans to close Redlynx

Ubisoft has also informed staff of a proposal to close Redlynx in Finland. The closure is subject to the local change-negotiation process and could affect up to 52 positions.

Founded in 2000 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, Redlynx is best known for the Trials motorcycle-racing series. Its latest Trials game, Trials Rising, was released in 2019. The studio later supported Star Wars Outlaws and released the mobile game Gwen’s Getaway.

VGC reported that Ubisoft decided to close Redlynx because it is not currently working on another project and downsizing would not make the studio sustainable. Ubisoft had announced a restructuring proposal for Redlynx a year earlier to reduce costs and improve prioritization across its worldwide studio network.

Ubisoft had also cut nearly a third of Ubisoft Barcelona, a support studio on Black Flag Resynced. The publisher said it would conduct the Redlynx process “with care and respect” and acknowledged the contributions of affected employees.
